CAPAS, TARLAC---Governor Victor Yap and third district Representative Jeci Lapus attended the inauguration of the newly constructed Alunan Primary School building which was donated by the Good People International [GPI] and the Korean International Cooperative Agency [KOICA] here last July 13.
The GPI is an international development non-government organization that was established in July 1999 in South Korea aimed to establish awareness with their global neighbors who are most vulnerable to poverty and diseases due to social isolation while KOICA which was established in 1991 aimed to manage aid and technical cooperation program.
Yap in his message, thanked the GPI and said that the program will last for the longest time and it will perhaps change the future of the Aetas tribal communities.
“To our Korean friends, thank you for having established a very good program,” Yap said.
The two foreign organizations donated a municipal hospital and provided for the education of the Aeta youth.
GPI chairman O-Hyun Yang also thanked Yap and said that the school is a gift to the children of Alunan saying, “GPI believes that this is the first step for the development of the village and the children of Alunan.”
Nestor Ermitaño Department of Education Capas West District Supervisor noted that constructing this kind of school building will improve the learning and the teaching conditions of the teachers and students.
Lapus for his part pledged additional two teachers and the improvement of road leading to Alunan. --- PIO Media Affairs.
