Tarlac hosts Ms. Earth long gown event

TARLAC WILL again host a major affair---this time, the provincial government will sponsor the evening gown event and photo shoot sessions of the Miss Earth beauty pageant on November 23 to 25 at the historic Maria Christina Park and at the different scenic spots all over Tarlac.
Thirty of the 90 lovely candidates vying for the prestigious beauty title will converge in the province for three-days to showcase their elegance in wearing long gowns, induce environmental awareness and to likewise promote the scenic tourist spots of Tarlac.
Being considered as venues for the photo-shoot are the Lubigan Eco-Tourism Park where the contestants will also conduct tree-planting activity, the Capas Spa Resort, the Monasterio de Tarlac, the Pinatubo Crater Lake, among others.
The evening gown event will commence at the Maria Christina Park on the night of November 24 where giant television networks ABS-CBN, Star World and The Filipino Channel tasked to cover the event.
In a statement, Tarlac Governor Victor Yap said that he is elated to host, yet again, another major event that will help promote the culture and tourism of the province.
“This is another feather in the province’ cap…this is not only a national event but international in scope as well,” Yap said.
The pageant’s coronation night is slated on December 3. Nicole Faria of India is the reigning Miss Earth. This year’s Philippine candidate is Athena Mae Imperial.
The Miss Earth beauty pageant is now on its 11th year and originally, it was slated in Bangkok this year but flooding at the major provinces of Thailand forced organizers to relocate it in the Philippines.
With a theme, “The Earth is Crying. Let the Earth Smile Again”, the pageant will focus on environmental concerns and how to save Earth from further destruction.
The 30 contestants are from Albania, Austria, Bahamas, Bolivia, Belize, Bhutan Bosnia & Herzegovina, Botswana, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Costa Rica, Crimea, Curacao, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, England, Estonia, France, Germany, Ghana and Guadeloupe. ---AFMC-PIO Media Affairs
