CAPITOL HILL, Tarlac City---The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office [PSWDO] under the Provincial Government of Tarlac [PGT] joined the nation in celebrating the 32nd National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week last July 20 at the lobby of the Provincial Capitol here.
With the theme, “Sa Istrakturang Accessible, Lahat ay Able”, the celebration aimed to promote the accessibility of persons with disabilities [PWDs] towards barrier-free environment as stated in the constitution. The Department of Social Welfare and Development [DSWD] is observing the event every third week of July in coordination with the National Council on Disability Affair.
The event highlights was the granting of educational assistance to indigent PWD’s and distribution of assistive devices to selected PWD’s.
Vice Governor Pearl Angeli E. Pacada and Second District Board Member Danilo Asiaten handed the financial grants to 53 elementary students each amounting to P1,500, 37 high school students with P2,000 each and 2 college students with P3,000 each.
Twenty seven PWD’s also accepted different assistive devices like wheel chairs, quadcane, walker and crutches. Another 80 students will be given educational assistance this coming week.
In a statement, Governor Victor Yap said he fully supported all PWD activities and also told to give them equal opportunities.

The GPI is an international development non-government organization that was established in July 1999 in South Korea aimed to establish awareness with their global neighbors who are most vulnerable to poverty and diseases due to social isolation while KOICA which was established in 1991 aimed to manage aid and technical cooperation program.
